Effective date: 13 October 2026.
1. About This Policy
This policy explains the browser storage identified in the current Serche application, operated by Serche Technologies Limited (RC No. 2008527), of 6 Furo Ezimora. It should be read with the Terms and Conditions. A complete Privacy Policy has not yet been supplied for publication.
Legal review required: lawful bases under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, consent requirements and a full inventory of storage set by the published hosting environment and third-party services. This is a description of the reviewed application, not a guarantee that external services never use cookies.
2. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Cookies are small files stored by a browser. Local storage holds information for a website across visits; session storage holds information for a browsing session. They are different technologies even when used for similar purposes. Browsers may restore session data when restoring tabs.
3. Storage Used by the Current App
3.1 Sign-in session — local storage. Serche’s authentication service stores sign-in session information in your browser so you can stay signed in and access account-only buying, listing, messaging and Cash & Pawn. Session information can refresh while you remain signed in. Signing out clears the local sign-in session; clearing site data also removes it. The storage itself has no fixed browser expiry. Token validity and service-side session retention are separate and require verification. In the editor preview, the hosting platform may broker sign-in storage across its preview surfaces; that is distinct from the public marketplace.
3.2 Return after sign-in — session storage. A temporary marker called serche-after-auth remembers the Serche page you intended to visit. It is removed when the return destination is processed or replaced during sign-in. If sign-in is not completed, it may remain for the browsing session.
3.3 Page recovery — session storage. A marker called serche-reloaded prevents repeated automatic reloads when page code fails to load. The app normally clears it after about 10 seconds on a mounted page. If the page never finishes loading, it may remain for the browsing session.
3.4 Search and preferences. Browse filters are stored in the page address, not in a saved-search cookie. The current public pages do not use browser storage for a shopping basket, language choices, recently viewed listings or saved searches. An unused navigation-sidebar tool contains a seven-day sidebar_state cookie, but it is not mounted on current marketplace pages and is not part of their active storage behavior.
4. Analytics, Diagnostics and External Services
4.1 Analytics and advertising. No Google Analytics, advertising pixel or marketing-cookie integration was found in the reviewed app code. This does not establish the behavior of scripts or services supplied by the hosting environment. Any optional tracking must be audited and, where required, consent controls put in place before it is introduced.
4.2 Diagnostics. The app can report errors, page paths and technical error details to hosting-platform reporting hooks when those hooks are present, including in the editor preview. These diagnostics are not a claim that usage data is anonymous. Legal review required: confirm which diagnostics run on the published site, what they collect, who receives them and their retention periods.
4.3 External services. Paystack hosts the payment page; Google is used for optional sign-in and hosted fonts. Authentication and hosting services also process requests needed to run the app. These external requests may reveal network and device information even without a cookie. Paystack and Google may use their own storage on their services. Their exact cookie names, purposes and durations have not been verified here; review their current policies and the actual checkout/sign-in behavior before final approval.
5. Your Current Choices
You can sign out and use your browser’s site-data controls to view, block or delete cookies, local storage and session storage. Clearing or blocking sign-in storage may sign you out or prevent account-only features from working. Your browser’s help pages explain how to manage site data.
The current app does not provide a cookie consent banner, accept/reject category controls or an in-app cookie settings link. This policy does not represent consent as already collected. Legal review required: determine which storage is strictly necessary and whether hosting, diagnostics or other services need consent or additional controls. No optional tracking should be enabled without the required controls and disclosures.
6. Retention and Your Personal Data
The known application storage lifetimes are described in section 3. There is no verified general “30 days to 12 months” retention rule. Authentication records, server logs and provider data have separate retention periods that must be established in the Privacy Policy.
Contact Serche with requests concerning access, correction, objection or deletion of personal data. Legal review required: document the rights-request procedure, data retention, international transfers and service providers in the outstanding Privacy Policy.
7. Changes and Legal Review
We will update this policy when storage or service providers change and state the revised effective date. Verification of the published site and third-party flows, a complete Privacy Policy, any required consent controls and independent legal review remain outstanding.
